5 Time Management Tips To Help You Become A Successful Businessperson
Are you a work-at-home parent, but find it difficult to take care of everything on the agenda? Most people automatically assume that people that work from home have it all – a good job, time with the kids, time for themselves, etc. However, what people fail to take into consideration is that work-at-home parents never have it easy.
The only way they make it easier on yourself is to use several smart time management tricks that ensure the job gets done that needs to be done. By managing your time well, you can get everything that needs to be done complete – buying groceries, cleaning the house, walking the dogs, taking care of the children and running your business.

#1) Create A Plan
The first thing you need to have is a plan. Schedule separate family time and work time. During your work time, focus on just the business. Do not procrastinate, which is very easy to do if you allow things to get in the way.
#2) Group Like Tasks Together
If you have a job with various tasks, consider grouping like tasks. For example, if you’re in direct sales with a team under you, lay out one day where you’ll be training. Rather than helping each member every single day, set up a mentoring session for one day for an hour or two at a time. Put aside another hour or two to focus on returning emails and phone calls. With a schedule, you find you get more done and are productive.
#3) Outsource Your Activities
It may also be a good idea to outsource some of your activities. If you discover you can’t respond or return all the phone calls or emails, update your website, write content or whatever else yourself, it may be time to seek the help of a virtual assistant. A virtual assistant can handle all the “mundane” tasks and then you can focus on the money-making aspects of the business. While you’re spending money on the assistant, you are making more of it to pay for the help.
#4) Create Block Times
You can save even more time by creating some block time to do the errands you have to get done – grocery shopping, returning library books, things of that nature. Plan out your meals, so you only have to go to the grocery store once a week. Plan meals that allow you to cook once but eat two or more times. For example, Monday can be for spaghetti and Tuesday can go for sloppy joes. Brown the meat you need for both days, and your work for Tuesday is halfway done.
If you decide to make lasagna or meatloaf, you can make two of them and freeze one for another time.
#5) Ask For Help
Remember to ask for help when you need it. You may think you can do it all on your own, but the reality is, you’re not superwoman. You can’t do it yourself. If you’re married or live with someone else, have them help you with the household chores. Have the children, if they’re old enough, to chip in.
And, the most important thing is to take time out for yourself. Take a break when you need it. If you feel yourself getting stressed, take time away from the work and relax.
